LACOMBE COUNTY – Lacombe County council met July 10 for a regular meeting, where councillors approved several recommendations and received multiple updates on regional planning and service delivery.
Council approved recommendations from the Committee of the Whole meeting held June 3. These included receiving presentations from RCMP Detachment Commanders and local Crime Watch Associations, as well as a presentation on the provincial Assessment Model Review, for information.
A contract to base pave Range Road 27-3 was awarded in the amount of $621,410. The work will be funded through the Community Resource Reserve.
Councillors also received an update on changes to the Municipal Government Act through the recently introduced Bill 50 – Municipal Affairs Statutes Amendment Act.
Metrix Group LLP will provide auditing services for Lacombe County from 2025 through 2027, following council approval of the request for proposal.
A presentation was received on the proposed South Sylvan Lake Area Off-Site Levy Bylaw No. 1442/25. If passed, the bylaw would apply to new developments benefiting from road and intersection improvements in that area.
Council endorsed the Terms of Reference to update the Hamlet of Mirror Area Structure Plan, a project scheduled for completion by March 2027.
Presentations were also received from Sarah Skinner of the Battle River Watershed Alliance and from representatives of Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors, including Stuart Richardson and Niki Burkinshaw.
Lastly, council received meeting notes for information from the May 27 Fire Services Agreement Review meeting, which included participation from the Village of Alix, Town of Bentley, Village of Clive, and Lacombe County.
