Red Deer RCMP charge four with drug & firearm related offences

In late 2025, Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) received information regarding a group of drug traffickers operating in the area of Red Deer, Alta.

 

Police initiated an investigation and identified four suspects. Over the next several months, the police investigation continued, and two residences and two vehicles of interest were identified.

 

On June 24, 2026, the investigation culminated, when Red Deer GIS, along with Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) and Red Deer RCMP Traffic Services, executed multiple search warrants. Search warrants were executed at two private residences in Red Deer, as well as on two different vehicles. Police arrested four males during the operation.

 

As a result of the searches, police seized two firearms, ammunition, quantities of cocaine, Canadian currency and other items related to drug trafficking.

 

Yusuf Adad, a 31-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following:

 

  • Trafficking of a controlled substance (x2);

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the Purpose of trafficking.

 

Following a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) hearing, Adad was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 16, 2026.

 

Ahmed Yusuf, a 36-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following:

 

  • Trafficking of a controlled substance (x3);

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking;

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2);

  • Possess restricted firearm (x2);

  • Unsafe storage of firearm (x2);

  • Possess firearm contrary to Order (x2).

  •  

Following a JIR hearing, Yusuf was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 2, 2026.

 

Hassem Dahir, a 38-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following:

 

  • Trafficking of a controlled substance;

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking;

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2);

  • Possess restricted firearm (x2);

  • Unsafe storage of firearm (x2).

  •  

Following a JIR hearing, Dahir was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 16, 2026.

 

Abdullahi Dahir, a 36-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following:

 

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking;

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2);

  • Possess property obtained by crime less than $5000;

  • Possess restricted firearm (x2);

  • Unsafe storage of firearm (x2);

  • Possess firearm contrary to Order (x6).

 

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Dahir was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 2, 2026.

 

“This intelligence led investigation demonstrates the Red Deer RCMP’s ongoing commitment to disrupting drug trafficking in our neighbourhoods” says Constable Andrew Devine with the Red Deer RCMP GIS. “Removing firearms from these environments reduces the risk of violence and improves public safety.”
