Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has arrested a suspect in the April 9, 2026, killing of 38-year-old Valleyview resident Dolan Badger.

Police say that with help from the public, investigators identified and arrested 27-year-old Valleyview resident Jayden Houle. He has been charged with second-degree murder. Houle appeared before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on April 13, 2026.

On April 9 at about 11:39 p.m., Valleyview RCMP responded to a report of a man lying in the street near 3802 Highway Street. Emergency crews attended and the man was declared dead at the scene.

The area was secured and remains under police control as the Major Crimes Unit leads the investigation.

Officers say the victim had injuries believed to be suspicious. An autopsy is expected to determine the cause of death.

Alberta RCMP MCU are still gathering evidence with regards to this investigation. They are hoping to speak with the driver of a semi-truck who was passing in the area when the altercation occurred. RCMP would like to speak with the driver in order to obtain potential dashcam footage. A picture of the truck has been attached to the release.
