This month, first responders across Canada are teaming up to give blood in support of Canadian Blood Services’ 2025 Sirens for Life campaign. On Jan. 7, Deputy Commissioner Trevor Daroux, Commanding Officer of the Alberta RCMP, along with other RCMP officers, personnel from Edmonton Police Service, STARS Air Ambulance, AHS Emergency Medical Services, the Canadian Armed Forces, and Edmonton Community Peace Officers, pulled up a sleeve to help.

“The Alberta RCMP is proud to participate in the Sirens for Life campaign,” says Deputy Commissioner Daroux.

“As first responders, we see how critical donated blood can be in moments when life hangs in the balance. Giving blood is one of the simplest but most impactful ways we can support communities. I’m grateful to every first responder who was able to give and help save a life.”

The Alberta RCMP, in friendly competition with other first responder agencies, are trying to make the most donations on behalf of the organization. Last year, the team brought in 365 donations; this year we’re hoping to beat that.

The Sirens for Life 2025 campaign runs until the end of January and encourages teams of first responders, public safety, and military personnel to give blood and raise awareness of the constant need for donations.
