Blackfalds RCMP investigate robbery

On March 6, 2026, at 6:49 a.m. Blackfalds RCMP received a report of a robbery at the Chevron Gas station on Vista Trail in Blackfalds. Investigation revealed that two masked men in winter clothing and one carrying what appeared to be a handgun entered the store and stole cash and cigarettes. The suspects were last seen crossing Vista Trail and are believed to have fled in a vehicle.  


On March 18, 2026, with the assistance of Edmonton Police Service Robbery Section and Tactical Unit, Blackfalds RCMP executed a search warrant at an Edmonton residence. A suspect was arrested inside the residence.


Joshua Sweeney (30), a resident of Edmonton, has been charged with:


Armed Robbery with a Firearm

Disguise with Intent

Mischief


Sweeney was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody; his next court appearance is March 24, 2026, at Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.


 A warrant for the arrest of a second suspect, Edmonton city resident, Gerard Pariseau (31) has been issued.


Cpl. Dallas Traill of the Blackfalds General Investigation Section, states, “This investigation is a great example of how collaboration between the RCMP and Edmonton Police Service leads to meaningful results. EPS was integral in the successful conclusion of this investigation.”
