With the ongoing teacher strike putting a pause on regular classroom routines, Botha School students found a creative way to keep their annual Ice Melt fundraiser alive — by setting up shop at the corner of 50 Street and 47 Avenue in Stettler on Oct. 21.
More than a dozen students and parents spent the day selling Ice Melt to raise money for upcoming school activities, including a ski trip and bussing costs. The parking lot was filled with laughter and high energy as the group waved to passing vehicles and encouraged semi-truck drivers to honk in support.
Students handled the sales themselves, taking payments, giving change, and keeping track of their tallies — a hands-on learning experience in customer service and teamwork.
Although the day was cool, the sunshine and community spirit helped keep everyone’s enthusiasm warm.
