Breton RCMP investigates house fire

On April 16, 2026, at 12:30 p.m., Breton RCMP received a report of a residential house fire on Township Road 482 in Brazeau County. Upon arrival, police learned that an adult female and two children were able to successfully evacuate the home, however, two children, an infant and a toddler were still in the home. Fire crews fought the blaze, however, rescue attempts were not possible. The fire has now been extinguished.

 

Upon initial search of the building, police located the baby deceased. The deceased has been transported to the Edmonton Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Emergency crews currently remain at the home searching for the toddler who remains unaccounted for.

 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Breton RCMP regrets to report that the toddler was located deceased inside the residence.

 

The scene has been released, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Again, sincerest condolences to the family and friends of all involved.
