RCMP seek wanted man after High Level shooting

Alberta News

RCMP are searching for a 28-year-old man wanted on multiple firearms and assault charges following a shooting at a High Level business in August.

Police say the incident occurred Aug. 24, 2026, at approximately 11:50 a.m., when a man entered a local business, pointed a handgun at another person and fired two shots into the floor.

The suspect then allegedly assaulted the victim, striking him in the face with the handgun and hitting him in the sternum, or chest area.

RCMP have identified the suspect as Michael Beaulieu, 28, who is primarily associated with the Northwest Territories but is known to frequent High Level and surrounding communities.

Beaulieu faces nine charges under the Criminal Code, including reckless discharge of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and several firearms possession offences.

Police have issued warrants for his arrest.

Beaulieu is described as having black hair, brown eyes, a medium build and several distinctive tattoos on his face and neck.

His tattoos include a crown above his left eyebrow, an unidentified tattoo above his right eyebrow, three teardrops beside his right eye, a cross beside his left eye, lettering on his right cheek and large Roman numerals across his neck.

RCMP are asking anyone with information about Beaulieu's whereabouts to contact the High Level detachment at 780-821-7000.
