Hinton traffic stop leads to 45 criminal charges, seizure of firearms and drugs

A proactive traffic stop conducted by Hinton RCMP resulted in 45 criminal charges and the seizure of firearms, suspected cocaine, prohibited weapons and other evidence.
RCMP said officers stopped a vehicle in the Hinton area on July 26, 2026. During the investigation, officers developed grounds to believe criminal activity was taking place and arrested the two people inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search authorized by the court resulted in the seizure of:
Two firearms, including one confirmed to have been stolen from Manitoba;
Approximately 106 grams of suspected cocaine;
Multiple prohibited weapons, including a conducted energy weapon;
Hundreds of rounds of ammunition and firearm magazines;
Body armour;
Drug paraphernalia and items consistent with drug trafficking; and
Electronic devices and other evidence relevant to the investigation.
Christopher Allen Ost, 39, of Grande Prairie, Alta., was charged with 27 offences.
Kalcey Dawn White, 39, of Edmonton, was charged with 18 offences.
The charges include possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, carrying concealed weapons and multiple other firearm-related offences.
Ost and White were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded in custody. They are scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Hinton on Aug. 5, 2026.
