Maskwacis RCMP arrest male for possession of explosives

Alberta News

Samson Cree Nation, Alta. - On Oct. 23, 2025, RCMP in Maskwacis, with assistance of the Alberta RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Samson Cree Nation, after receiving a tip that there may be explosives in the residence. During that search, police located several improvised explosive devices.

32-year-old Terrance Bruno, a resident of Samson Cree Nation, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with:

  • Breach of a release order (x3)

  • Possession of explosives contrary to order

After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Bruno was remanded into custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin on Oct. 28, 2025.

The explosive devices that were located during the search were destroyed on scene by the RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit.

Given the Halloween season, fireworks and firecrackers are commonly seen in our area. The RCMP want to remind the public that fireworks can be extremely dangerous if not handled properly by responsible adults, and the modification of any fireworks can cause them to become very volatile.
