On Oct. 14, 2025, as the result of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, Maskwacis RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Ermineskin Cree Nation. Officers recovered 2 illegally owned firearms, 2 illegally owned crossbows, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation RCMP have charged 39-year-old Maskwacis resident, Shane Wolfe, with:

• Unauthorized possession of a firearm (X2);

• Weapons possession contrary to order (X5);

• Unsafe storage of a firearm.
