Municipal election results for east central Alberta

Monday, Oct, 20 was municipal election day across Alberta, and many councils will see new faces along with some returning ones.
Readers should note the results below are taken from sources such as town or county websites as of Tues., Oct. 21 and all reasonable efforts were taken to ensure their accuracy by deadline. Such results are often described as “unofficial” because they haven’t been endorsed or approved by resolution yet.
The Town of Bashaw’s new council includes Kyle McIntosh (185 votes), Ambyr Kohlman (125), Reina Masyk (103) and Carman Meger (140); other candidates included (Scott Williams (46), Shelley Boileau (79), Emery Brown (72), Dourtney Foster (30), Dallas Mitchell (37), Deborah Roorda (55) and Kristen Zembal (33).
The Village of Clive council now includes: Sarah Fahey (113), Tracey Hallman (110), Luci Henry (96), Dave Nutbrown (91) and Susan Russell (87).
The Village of Alix’ five council seats will be filled by Ed Cole (103), Barb Gilliat (143), Rob Fehr (148), Francois Laneuville (85), Janice Besuijen (112), Martin Mabbs (83) and Cathy Perry (84).
The Town of Hanna’s mayor will be Danny Povaschuk (549) who was followed by Mary Lynn Quaschnick (260) and Sam Sharp (15) with the following council: Brenda Karg (573), Fred Crowle (483), Angie Warwick (470), Vern Thuroo (451), Erica Rorabeck (387) and Paul Hunter (338). Other candidates included Twilla Coates (96), Harlan Lester (226), Kris Maetche (282), Adrian Mohl (307) and Sandra Murphy (255).
The County of Paintearth saw one election, as Ward 4 incumbent Terry Vockeroth (98) defeated challengerJan Koenraadt (22).
Village of Elnora residents elected an all-new council: Gail Moise (117), Leah Nelson (119) and Sherri Walker (85). Incumbents were Jul Bissell (49), Ron Duft (37) and Lisa Ferguson (35).
The Village of Donalda council will include Phil Menecola (53), Shaleah Fox (58) and Tanya Metcalfe (53). Other candidates included Heather Dahl (21) and Rob Czapp (22).
The Village of Delburne council will include: Jeff Bourne (126), James Ellis (92), Kathy Faulk (124), Dustin Gillespie (126) and Jason Reckseidler (116). Other candidates included Andrew Folks (88), Trenton Martens (47), Luc Prefontaine (25), and Ray Reckseidler (78).
Village of Forestburg council will include Elaine Fossen (180), Dwayne Giroux (178), Devon McNabb (188), Dayna Oberg (189) and Blaise Young (158). The remaining candidate was Debra Moffat (58)
The Town of Castor election results: Chad Gilchrist (202), Brenda Hepp (242), Trudy Kilner (169)), Gwen Kleinschroth (264), Don Sisson (225), Matthew Sugemi (216) and Brenda Wismer (189). Other candidates included Kevin McDougall (121), Shawn Peach (140), Lynea Schaffner (163) and Cecil Yates (139).
According to the Town of Coronation’s social media these are the unofficial results: Brett Alderice (152), Ron Checkel (169), Shelley Cook (184), Bonnie Danylyshen (107), Sandra Kien (50), Amanda Mudliar (49), Daryl Perry (72), Kevin Resch (154) and Mark Stannard (169).
Village of Morrin unofficial results: Nick Dragani, Lorraine MacArthur and M'Liss Edwards were elected.
Starland County’s social media provided the following results: Div. 2 (Blaine Leonhardt (27), Bruce Thompson (35) and Steven Wannstrom [60]) and Div. 5 (Carol Lenfesty 16 votes, William Rew 68 votes).
Kneehill County results included a number of incumbents being defeated: Div. 1 Merle Anderson (64), Derek Ferguson (24) and Faye McGhee (22), Div. 2 includes Raghu Barat (6), Christoper Morton (50) and Darcy Penner (101), Div. 3 includes Leo Marsten (49) and Jerry Wittstock (72), Div. 4 includes Carrie Fobes (47) and Lowell Olson (87) and Div. 7 includes Ken King (119) and Lonnie McCook (135).
Town of Stettler website results for mayoral candidates include Gord Lawlor (717) and Dean Lovell (617) while council candidates include the following: Kurt Baker (727), Cheryl Barros (864), Sharon Fischer (771), Keith Friendship (211), Dusty Myshrall (924), Jonathan Nichols (321), Scott Pfeiffer (921), Travis Randell (711) and Wayne Smith (804).
County of Stettler results according to the municipal website: Candidates in Ward 1 include Tyler Ainsworth (51) and Clint Walker (92), Ward 2 Dave Grover (63) and Wade Hunter (129), Ward 5 David Uden (19), Allan Gano (173) and Darryl Keibel (61), Ward 6 Justin Stevens (144) and Rosalind LaRose (68) and Ward 7 includes Paul McKay (73) and Janet Adam (75).
In Lacombe County, the following results were posted on the municipal website: Div. 1 (Bill Ramsay 101 votes, John Ireland 177 votes), Div. 3 (Derek Majerech 30, Mark Visscher 166, Paula Zobell 17 and Tim Archibald 95), Div. 4 (Dwayne West 207 and Wendy Griffin 83), Div. 5 (Gresham Veldhuisen 135, Roger van Haren 207 and Kenneth White 60) and lastly Div. 6 (Allan Wilson 216 and Michael Byzitter 35).
