Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre and outgoing MP Damien Kurek drew a large and enthusiastic crowd during a Town Hall event held July 11 at the Stettler Agricultural Centre.
Poilievre is running in the upcoming Battle River–Crowfoot federal by-election, scheduled for August 18, 2025, following Kurek’s resignation last month. The longtime Conservative MP stepped down on June 17 to allow Poilievre the opportunity to return to Parliament after losing his seat in Carleton, Ontario, in the April 28 general election.
The writ for the by-election was issued June 30, with the August 18 date selected to avoid a conflict with Alberta Heritage Day.
During the Town Hall, Poilievre addressed questions from the crowd, reaffirming his commitment to east central Alberta. He emphasized support for farmers, workers, seniors, and lawful firearm owners, while vowing to stand up for fairness for Alberta and Western Canada.
