Ponoka RCMP and partners arrest two for possession of stolen property

Ponoka, Alta. – On Aug. 8, 2025, Wetaskiwin RCMP received a report of a company work trailer that had been entered unlawfully in Wetaskiwin County near Malmo, Alta., and approximately $60,000 worth of tools were taken from it. One item stolen contained an apple air tag and it pinged to a residence in Ponoka.
A search warrant for this residence was obtained. Ponoka RCMP, Ponoka General Investigation Section (GIS), Wetaskiwin RCMP and Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), as well as Police Dog services, attended the residence and executed the search warrant. As a result of the search warrant, the majority of the stolen tools were recovered and have been returned to their owners.
As a result, Lauren Curtis (46), a resident of Ponoka, and Andrew Renaud (34), a resident of Lacombe County, were arrested and both were charged with possession of stolen property over $5000. After Judicial Interim Release Hearings, they have been released for Alberta Court of Justice in Ponoka on Aug. 22, 2025.
This investigation shows a great collaborative effort and outstanding teamwork by Ponoka and Wetaskiwin RCMP to come to a successful resolution and the recovery of the stolen the property.
