Ardrossan, Alta. - On July 25, 2025, the RCMP Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit (SAD CRU) received information that power tools stolen earlier in the week from a job site in Ardrossan, Alta., were now entering Southern Alberta. RCMP quickly responded and were able to identify an occupied vehicle containing the stolen equipment.
SAD CRU, with assistance from Banff RCMP, arrested the two occupants in the vehicle in Banff. Further investigation determined that the accused were planning to sell the stolen equipment outside the Province. RCMP have since been able to return the stolen work equipment to its rightful owner.
Kenneth Ruth (46) and Lindsay Slaby (41), both residents of Edmonton, have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. Both were released from custody to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Canmore on Sept. 24, 2025.
Prompt action by SAD CRU led to the recovery of this stolen property before it was taken out of Province to be pawned or re-sold to an unsuspecting buyer elsewhere.
