On May 13, 2026, at approximately 11:12 a.m., Red Deer RCMP received an anonymous threat made toward Hunting Hills High School. The initial report to police indicated that the school was surrounded by bombs and was going to be shot up.
Police responded and were on scene immediately as members were in the area. As a precaution, the nearby Collicut Centre and Notre Dame Secondary School were also placed into a hold and secure status while police investigated.
Hunting Hills High School administration and the Red Deer RCMP made a joint decision to release students from school for the remainder of the day, out of an abundance of caution.
Students were released from Hunting Hills High School to buses and parents in a controlled fashion.
Notre Dame Secondary School and the Collicut have been taken off hold and secure and have resumed all regular activities.
Red Deer RCMP confirm there is no active threat or risk to the public. Police are taking this threat seriously and continue to investigate.
