Stage Hanna welcomed audiences to a successful weekend of performances of Shout! The Mod Musical from May 8 to 10 at the Hanna Community Centre. Directed by Gwen Snell, with assistant directors Tammy David and James Gregson, the production brought together local performers, volunteers, crew members and community supporters for an entertaining celebration of live theatre.
The cast featured Robyn Thompson as Orange, Jorgie Campbell as Red, Courtney Campbell as Blue, Elizabeth Lajoie as Green, Emily Jamieson as Yellow, Jenny Finnimore as Gwendolyn Holmes and Quinn-Lynn Peters as the Assistant. The performers impressed audiences with their vocally challenging four-part harmonies while capturing the humour, friendships and challenges of womanhood through the music and style of the 1960s and 1970s.
Featured go-go dancers Robin Ferguson, Nadine Hein, Dani Lamson, Laurie Palmer, Lacey Rose and Emma Sanger were also crowd favourites throughout the performances.
Gregson, a teacher at J.C. Charyk School, worked alongside his junior and senior high school students in the Digital Technology Maker’s Space class, who designed the production’s posters, programs, flyers and magazines. Special thanks were extended to the students, volunteers, sponsors and local businesses that supported the production, as well as to Trina Herndon and her catering staff for providing the dinners; Main Street Barber for assisting with in-person ticket sales; the Town of Hanna; the Co-op Liquor Store; Brent Olsen and Jill Olsen; Kim Wells and Patti Wells of Wells Water Service; and sponsors Hanna Funeral Services, Harvest Sky Pharmasave, Hanna Motor Products and Freson Bros.
The final two performances of Shout! The Mod Musical will take place Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15 in Hanna. Stage Hanna has also announced its next major production, Clue, with dinner theatre performances scheduled for Nov. 27, 28 and Dec. 3, 4 and 5, 2026.
Theatre tickets are available for purchase online at https://stagehanna.ca/box-office/ or at Main Street Barber in Hanna.
