Stettler Strengthens Public Safety with the Adoption of Addressing Bylaw

Council approves bylaw requiring clear and visible property addresses.

June 23, 2026 – Stettler, Alta: The Town of Stettler is reminding residents and business owners of the

importance of clearly displaying civic addresses on their buildings following Council's adoption of Bylaw

2211-26 at the June 16 Council Meeting.

The bylaw requires civic addresses to be clearly displayed and visible from the street, ensuring that homes,

businesses, and individual units can be easily identified.

While addressing may seem like a small detail, it plays an important role in many everyday services. Clearly

marked addresses help ensure that packages, deliveries, and visitors arrive at the correct location, while

also assisting utility providers when connecting new services, performing maintenance, or responding to

service calls. Most importantly, visible addressing supports public safety. Whether responding to a medical

emergency, fire, or other urgent incident, first responders rely on clearly marked addresses to locate the

correct property without delay

“Throughout my career as a paramedic, I’ve responded to emergencies where every second

mattered. In those moments, something as simple as a clearly visible address can help

responders find the right property faster and begin providing care sooner. This bylaw is a

simple step that can make a meaningful difference in protecting public safety throughout our

community.”

- Councillor Dusty Myshrall.

The Town encourages residents and business owners to review their properties and ensure that address

numbers are visible, legible, and unobstructed from the roadway. Property owners with multiple units,

secondary suites, businesses, or buildings on a single property should ensure that all addresses are clearly

identified.

Residents or businesses requiring new address numbers or replacement signage are encouraged to

support local businesses first when purchasing address markers and numbers.
