Strathcona County RCMP advises public of temporary detachment closure

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP detachment advise that the item believed to be old military ordinance brought to the detachment for disposal has been removed and normal operations have resumed at the detachment.


Strathcona County RCMP would like to thank our colleagues with the Canadian Armed Forces for their assistance.


The Alberta RCMP would like to remind anyone who finds explosives or detonators not to touch them and to contact their local police immediately, who will attend the location where the item is. Disposal of explosives safely is at no cost to the public. Citizens are reminded not to move or touch explosives and providing a picture and an approximate age is helpful.Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP would like to advise the public to stay away from the RCMP Detachment located at 911 Bison Way in Sherwood Park, Alta. A suspected explosive device was brought to the detachment for disposal by a member of the public. The area for has been locked down. 

 

As a reminder to the public, anyone who notices or finds a suspected explosive device is asked to call 911 or local police immediately and follow the instructions given by the operator. Do NOT touch, handle or transport the device without talking to police first. 

 

An update will be sent once the area is once again deemed safe.
