Westlock RCMP are asking for public help as they continue investigating a false firearms report received April 15.

Police say an unknown caller reported a firearms incident at a residence around 11:13 a.m., prompting a precautionary hold and secure at R.F. Staples High School and St. Mary’s School. The measure was lifted shortly after officers determined the report was unfounded, and there was no threat to the schools.

Investigators are now trying to identify the person who made the call and are seeking anyone who may have been with the caller or has information to come forward.
