Wetaskiwin RCMP charge male after fiery crash

Wetaskiwin, Alta. - On July 1, 2025, Wetaskiwin RCMP officers were patrolling when they came up on the scene of a two vehicle head on collision on Highway 2A, just south of Wetaskiwin. Responding officers were faced with two occupants trapped inside a vehicle which had caught on fire. Officers were able to remove the occupants shortly before the vehicle became fully engulfed. Two occupants of the other involved vehicle, a 61-year-old male resident of Van Nuys and a 64-year-old female resident of Wetaskiwin, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
A collision analyst attended and processed the scene shortly after. After a thorough investigation, Wetaskiwin RCMP General Investigative Section has charged a male.
Terrance Buffalo (36), a resident of Maskwacis, Alta., has been charged with the following:
Impaired operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm (x2)
Impaired operation of a conveyance causing death (x2)
Buffalo was arrested on Oct. 8, 2025, and held for a Judicial interim Release hearing. He was remanded into custody until his next court date on Oct. 28, 2025.
