Alberta museum unveils New Heritage Exhibit

Alberta News

The Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton has opened a new temporary exhibition that provides visitors with a comprehensive view of the province’s heritage collection and the processes behind building it.

The exhibition, titled Stories of Us: Building Alberta’s Collection, presents more than 100 exemplary objects from the museum’s holdings, which total over five million artifacts representing Alberta’s cultural and natural history. The show offers insight into how curators select and preserve items that reflect the province’s diverse histories and identities.

The display is situated in the Natural History Hall South Gallery and is scheduled to run through early February 2027. It is designed to draw public attention to the curated narratives that form part of Alberta’s evolving provincial story.

In parallel with the museum exhibition, the Alberta government continues its participation in the Canada Strong Pass program, which provides free general admission to provincial museums and historic sites for children and teens aged 17 and under and half-price admission for young adults aged 18 to 24. That programming is in effect from mid-December through mid-January. The expanded access supports increased visitation and engagement with Alberta’s cultural institutions during the winter season.
