Brooks RCMP respond to serious collision

Alberta News

On Nov. 20, 2025, at 6 a.m., Brooks RCMP and emergency services, including EMS and Brooks Fire Department, responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 36 and Highway 1, west of Brooks. Upon arrival, it was found that two semi trucks, with one occupant each, had collided at the intersection.

Investigation revealed that a semi-truck pulling an enclosed trailer was southbound on Highway 36 approaching Highway 1 failed to stop for a stop sign entering the intersection. This semi then collided with an eastbound semi-truck pulling an enclosed trailer.  Both semis came to rest on the roadway in the intersection. The driver of the eastbound semi was transported to a local hospital via ground ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The other driver was not injured. Traffic was diverted and the highway re-opened at 10:15 a.m.

RCMP have charged a 26-year-old male, a resident of Newell County, under the Traffic Safety Act with Careless Driving.
