Clairmont RCMP responds to fatal motor vehicle collision with pedestrian

Grande Prairie, Alta. – On April 7, 2026, around 3:15 a.m., Clairmont RCMP received reports of a male sitting on highway 43. Clairmont RCMP responded but, by the time they got on scene, which was just West of Range Road 55, the pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle, possible a semi-truck, who did not remain on scene. A roadblock was set up by Valleyview RCMP but the suspect vehicle was not located. Investigation has revealed that a semi-truck hauling a van trailer was traveling East on Highway 43 and stopped at the scene but left prior to police attendance.
Clairmont RCMP is looking to speak to the driver of the semi-truck that stopped on seen and is seeking the public’s assistance in relation to this incident. Anyone who was in the area of Highway 43, near Range Road 55, between 3:00 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., on April 7, 2026, and who saw the pedestrian or has dashcam footage of the area is asked to contact the Clairemont RCMP at at780-830-5112.
