Cochrane RCMP seize firearms and cocaine during search warrant

Cochrane, Alta. - In September of 2025, Cochrane RCMP Crime Reduction Unit launched an investigation into suspected drug trafficking activities within the Town of Cochrane. On Sept. 10, 2025, Cochrane RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in the Heritage neighbourhood of Cochrane. During the search, police seized a quantity of cocaine packaged for distribution, along with two firearms including a prohibited pink .22 calibre rifle.
As a result, Kristy Rinas (42), a resident of Cochrane, has been charged with the following offences:
Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking;
Unsafe Storage of a Firearm;
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm;
Unlawful Possession of a Prohibited Firearm.
Rinas was held for a Judicial Interim Hearing and subsequently release by the courts to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Cochrane on Sept. 23, 2025.
“Our officers will continue to investigate and disrupt drug trafficking in the town of Cochrane. These efforts are crucial to keeping illegal firearms and drugs out of our community.” Said Insp. Dave Brunner, Commanding Officer of Cochrane RCMP.
