Didsbury RCMP charge housekeeper with theft

Alberta News

On Aug. 3, 2026, Didsbury RCMP received a report of theft from a rural property in Mountain View County. The victim reported a female suspect, who was hired to provide homecare and housekeeping services, had stolen items from the residence while conducting her duties. The suspect requested the victims meet her at separate locations and, after the victim’s had left the house, the suspect attended the property and entered the residence. She was then confronted by a male who had been asked to watch the property while the victims were away.

Police attended and investigated. They determined the suspect had removed the video surveillance camera that was affixed to the residence, and an item belonging to the victim was seen in her vehicle. The suspect was arrested and her vehicle seized. A search warrant was obtained, and police recovered the victim’s property.

Ann Carveth (69), a resident of Cremona, has been charged with theft under $5000 and being unlawfully in a dwelling house. She is scheduled to appear at Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on Aug. 24, 2026.

Didsbury RCMP believe there may be additional victims given Carveth’s work as a housekeeper. Those who believe they have been a victim or have information, are encouraged to call the Didsbury RCMP at 403-335-3382. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
