Drayton Valley RCMP conducts arrest after receiving erratic driving complaint

Drayton Valley, Alta. - On Aug. 1, 2025, the Drayton Valley RCMP received a complaint about an erratic driver on Highway 22. Drayton Valley RCMP members made patrols in the area and were able to locate the suspect vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted to determine the sobriety of the driver, resulting in members observing illegal goods inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of over 200g of Fentanyl, bear spray, a knife and drug paraphernalia. RCMP members also located several items of Lululemon clothing with security tags still on them, which were later discovered stolen from a Calgary Lululemon on July 31, 2025.
As a result of the investigation, 48-year-old Clairmont, Alta., resident Brent Darling was charged with:
Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking;
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2);
Operation of motor vehicle while impaired; and
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
Darling was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Drayton Valley on Aug. 19, 2025.
