Evansburg RCMP arrests two people in possession of stolen vehicle

Evansburg, Alta. - On July 28, 2025, Evansburg RCMP members located a stolen vehicle that fled from police into a remote area between Wildwood, Alta., and Lobstick, Alta. Occupants fled the vehicle and police started a search. Thanks to assistance from the public, who called in suspicious activity and people on or near their property, two suspects were located and arrested.
As a result of the investigation, Roger Cooley McCann (44) and Carrie Ann Stephen (46), both residents of Leduc, were charged with Possession of stolen property over $5000. Furthermore, McCann was also charged with Flight from police, 2 counts of failure to comply with release order and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
McCann and Stephen were brought before a justice of the peace, where McCann was remanded into custody while Stephen was released. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Evansburg on Aug. 11, 2025.
“We would like to take the time to thank the public for calling in suspicious activity and thus helping to keep our community and their goods safe” said Cpl. Ryan Darren of the Evansburg RCMP. “Thanks to their help, we were able to apprehend both suspects, with McCann being a known prolific offender who had been released 6 days earlier after having done similar offences. We are committed to continuing our efforts to hold people accountable for their actions.”
