4:19 Sept 10 - UPDATE - High Prairie RCMP is advising that their police operation is now completed. One suspect is still at large but is believed to no longer be in the area.

High Prairie, Alta. – Earlier today, around 9:50 a.m., High Prairie RCMP received a report of an armed robbery taking place in Grouard, Alta. The suspects were located but fled the scene, heading towards Driftpile, Alta., where they got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. High Prairie RCMP are on scene in the area of Highway 2 and Driftpile Beach road and searching for three suspects, who were initially reported as 2 males and 1 female.

The public is asked to avoid the area and those living within sight of police activity are asked to lock the doors and not open up to strangers. Furthermore, High Prairie RCMP asks that anyone travelling through the area not pick up any hitchhikers until further notice. An update is anticipated once more information becomes available or should the situation change.
