Hinton RCMP investigates motor vehicle collision at Harry Collinge High School

Hinton, Alta. – On Sept. 26, 2025, around 2:55 p.m., Hinton RCMP received a report that a vehicle had collided with the Harry Collinge High School. School evacuation protocol was enacted while RCMP and EMS responded. EMS transported the driver to the hospital for evaluation. No one else was injured as a result of the incident. After further investigation, it is believed that the collision was intentional and the driver has since been arrested.
As a result of the investigation, a youth was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance and mischief over $5000.
The youth was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Hinton on Oct. 15, 2025.
“We understand that there has been some concern within the community in relation to this incident” said Sgt. Mills of the Hinton RCMP Detachment. “We want everyone to know that we are conducting a thorough investigation into this incident. Furthermore, the school board has been involved every step of the way and is taking measures to support students, staff and families effected by this incident”
