Hinton RCMP lays charges in several property crime related investigations

Hinton, Alta. – Hinton RCMP, after hearing feedback from the public over concerns regarding property crime in the area, started an initiative to help alleviate concerns and investigate these instances further. As a result of this initiative, five individuals have been arrested in the following incidents:

 

  • On July 31, 2025, Hinton RCMP responded to a complaint of a male is possession of a firearm threatening others in the area. Members quickly responded to the area of Hardisty Road and Muskuta Drive but the male had left on foot. With the assistance of the public, the members were able to track the male suspect in a bush area. The male was quickly apprehended, and a replica firearm was located nearby. Upon further investigation, the suspect was linked to a break and enter that occurred on July 12, 2025, and multiple arrest warrants were also executed. As a result of the investigation, Lucas Ramlochan (31), a resident of Hinton, was charged with:

    • Resist Arrest;

    • Possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose; and

    • Break and enter.

Ramlochan was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody, to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Hinton on Aug. 20, 2025.

 

  • On Aug 1, 2025, Hinton RCMP received a call about a male who had stolen several items including a firearm, a car and chainsaw from the complainant. The male was identified and later arrested. Investigation revealed that the items had been sold but they were later recovered and returned to the owner. As a result of the investigation, James Hogan (55), a resident of Hinton, was charged with multiple charges including:

    • Theft (x4);

    • Unauthorized possession of a firearm;

    • Trafficking in stolen property; and

    • Uttering threats.

Hogan was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Hinton on Aug. 20, 2025.

 

  • On July 19, 2025, the Griffiths Ford Dealership was broken into and an e-bike was stolen. Thanks to assistance from the public, the bike was located and recovered. Further investigation revealed that Tyler Schooley (43) and Stephanie Albert (38), both residents of Hinton, had possession of the bike and attempted to sell it as their own. They were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5000 and trafficking stolen property. Albert, who was on probation, was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody while Schooly was released by the justice. They are both to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Hinton on Aug. 20, 2025. Investigation into the break and enter continues.

 

  • On July 28, 2025, Hinton RCMP received a call from Pearl Vision that a male walked into the store and took a pair of sunglasses. On July 30, 2025, Dairy Queen reported a male who walked into their business and was found to have taken product from their store without paying. Surveillance was provided from both places and revealed the same male. The male was identified as Cristos Karavidas (51), a resident of Hinton, who was arrested and charged with 2 counts of theft under $5000. Karavidas was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody, to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Hinton on Aug. 20, 2025.

 

“Here are just a few examples of how your Hinton RCMP are listening to public concerns and addressing files as quickly, professionally and efficiently as possible” said S/Sgt Shiloh Fragomeni, Detachment Commander of the Hinton RCMP. “We will continue to address any concerns or assistance you may have and do all we can to keep our community safe”.
