Hinton, Alta. – On Sept. 16, 2025, Hinton RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) located a vehicle that had been reported stolen at a residence in the Hinton area.
The scene was contained, and attempts were made to speak with the occupants of the house. While attempts were being made, a firearm-related call, later determined to be false, came in for the Hinton area, requiring units to respond.
Two suspects then ran out of the house and got into the stolen vehicle. After striking a police vehicle, the suspects then drove through a wooden area and fled the scene. The vehicle was later seen heading towards Grande Cache and located thanks to information from the public.
Grande Cache RCMP with assistance from Hinton RCMP and Edson RCMP were able to successfully deploy a Tire Deflation Device (TDD) and arrested the male suspect, who was driving the vehicle, on site. The female suspect fled on foot but was soon located and arrested thanks to Grande Prairie RCMP Police Dog Services and an RPAS-trained Grande Prairie GIS member.
As a result of the investigation, the following two Grande Prairie residents were arrested:
Nan Philips (37), was charged with:
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
Obstruct police officer (x2); and
Public Mischief.
Jamison Hudgins (38), was charged with:
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
Obstruct police officer (x2);
Flight from police officer (x3);
Dangerous operation of motor vehicle; and
Driving while unauthorized.
Philips and Hudgins were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Hinton on Oct. 1, 2025.
“I want to personally thank the various units and detachments who came to help on this file, as well as the public for calling in suspicious or dangerous activity” said S/Sgt. Shiloh Fragomeni, Detachment Commander of the Hinton RCMP. “This is yet another great example of not only the excellence of the work done by the Alberta RCMP but also of our ability to work together and coordinate multiple detachments and units to efficiently and safely arrest those who would try and escape the consequences of their actions”.
