Peavey Mart is set to return to Alberta later this year, months after the farm and ranch retailer closed all of its stores across Canada.
The company confirmed on its website that outlets in Spruce Grove, Westlock, Camrose and Lacombe will reopen in 2025, with further information to be shared in the weeks ahead.
Peavey Mart announced in January it would shut down 90 locations, along with six MainStreet Hardware stores. At the time, the retailer pointed to higher operating costs, weaker consumer spending and supply-chain challenges as reasons for the closures.
The relaunch will begin in Alberta under new ownership. Industry reports say the business is being restructured with support from new investors and distribution facilities have been secured in Red Deer to help supply the first wave of stores.
The company has indicated the returning outlets will stock familiar national brands and locally sourced products while continuing to serve its base of farmers, ranchers and acreage owners.
Westlock’s store is expected to be among the first to reopen before the end of the year, according to local reports.
Founded in 1967 as National Farmway Stores, the company adopted the Peavey Mart name in the 1970s and expanded across Western Canada. It became fully Canadian-owned in 1982 and built a reputation for carrying hardware, workwear, and livestock supplies.
Peavey Mart has not released a complete reopening timeline or confirmed whether additional provinces will be included in the relaunch.
