It might be a stretch but think back more than six decades. In the Sunnyslope area, you'd find the 1-12 Salem School.
I was in that school building last Saturday evening with close to 100 others, attracted by a pig roast supper. I wasn't a student, but was ready to eat and learn.
The school closed in 1961, was transported from out there somewhere to its present location and function: the Sunnyslope Hall Association, west of Three Hills, north of Linden, on Hwy. 582.
Nice place, nice people, good food. Had to be because this was a fundraiser, with money raised going to keep the building functional and attractive. Past renos include power hookup, washroom expansion and an accessibility ramp.
The internet references present-day Sunnyslope as a Kneehill County hamlet. Its handful of homes contrast sharply to the early 1900s when the community boasted a creamery, hotel, grocery store, livery barn and a rail service.
