On Aug. 19, 2026, at approximately 4 a.m., Wetaskiwin RCMP was dispatched to a report of a collision between a southbound train and a pedestrian. After conducting an extensive search of the area with the assistance CPKC Police, the body of a deceased male was located south of the Wetaskiwin city limits. 

The deceased was identified as an 18-year-old male resident of Maskwacis First Nation.   

The RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
