Southeastern Alberta faces damaging wind gusts Sunday, with Environment Canada warning of possible interruptions to transportation, services and utilities.
The agency’s Medicine Hat warning forecasts gusts of 90 to 100 km/h. Areas nearer the U.S. border could experience gusts exceeding 110 km/h, with winds expected to begin easing Sunday evening.
Palliser Post’s early Sunday update reports that the warning covers Medicine Hat, Redcliff, Seven Persons, Dunmore, Irvine, Bow Island, Foremost, Elkwater and Brooks. It says the stronger winds are expected later in the morning and into the afternoon.
Environment Canada advises people to secure loose objects and prepare for possible disruptions. Residents should continue checking official alerts as conditions change.
The forecast calls for conditions to ease in the evening, but readers should check the current warning before setting out.
