Piikani Nation and Fort Macleod RCMP investigate drug trafficking in Fort Macleod
In January of 2026, Piikani Nation RCMP received intelligence of possible drug trafficking in Fort Macleod. Fort Macleod RCMP, Piikani Nation RCMP, and Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit worked collaboratively to conduct the investigation. On Jan. 23, 2026, a search warrant was granted and executed.
As a result of the search warrant, the following was seized:
469 grams of suspected cocaine
53 grams of suspected methamphetamine
242 oxycodone pills
2 tablets of fentanyl
3 grams of suspected psilocybin
Other prescription medication and drug paraphernalia consistent with trafficking
Darcy Pedersen (47), a resident of Fort Macleod, and Shannon Calderwood (51), a resident of Pincher Creek, have been charged with the following offences:
Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, oxycodone, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and psilocybin (magic mushrooms)
Production of a substance (cocaine)
Possession of paraphernalia intending that it will be used for trafficking
Both accused appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were released with conditions to attend Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Macleod on Feb. 11, 2026.
