Sherwood Park, Alta. - Strathcona County RCMP is issuing an update in relation to the investigation of an armed youth at Archbishop Jordan Catholic High School in Sherwood Park on Sept. 11, 2025.

 

Police were notified of the incident through a 911 call from a teacher, after a student was seen in possession of a gun in class. During the course of the investigation, police recovered what they believe to be an imitation firearm. A 14-year-old youth was taken into custody following the event and has since been charged with:

  • Using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence;

  • Assault with a weapon;

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. 

The youth was released on conditions following a Judicial Interim Release hearing. The youth is scheduled to appear on Sept. 23, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Sherwood Park.

 

There were no physical injuries reported as a result of this incident.



Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP is advising that there is a heavy police presence at Archbishop Jordan Catholic High School on Emerald Drive, as they are responding to a firearms complaint.

 

One person is in custody. There are no injuries. At this time there is no indication that there is any further threat.

 

RCMP is asking everyone to please stay away from the school to allow police to safely do their jobs. An update will come as soon as more info is obtained.
