Strengthening trade corridors with the U.S.

Alberta News

Parliamentary Secretary for Economic Corridor Development Shane Getson will travel to Lubbock, Texas to promote Alberta’s ongoing work to expand economic corridors.

MLA Getson will be attending the Ports-to-Plains Alliance 2025 Annual Conference to speak on the importance of enhancing economic corridors to grow barrier-free trade between Alberta and the U.S.

He will also discuss opportunities to streamline trade corridors and improve north-south connectivity between Alberta and the U.S. via the Ports-to-Plains Trade Corridor. These discussions align with Alberta’s broader efforts to boost internal trade and the movement of goods from east to west, including expanded access to export markets through tidewater.

“Alberta is committed to strengthening partnership with the United States by advancing trade, resilient supply chains and shared economic growth. Through efforts like the Ports-to-Plains Alliance, we’re working with U.S. leaders to unlock new opportunities for job creators on both sides of the border.”

The annual Ports-to-Plains conference focuses on enhancing economic security and trade opportunities across the region by sparking collaborative work to improve essential transportation infrastructure networks. The conference brings together policymakers, industry leaders and businesses from nine U.S. states, including Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Nebraska and Wyoming.

Mission expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page.
