Alberta News
On Dec. 4, 2025, Sundre RCMP was alerted to an assault in which a firearm was produced. The victim was a delivery driver who had attempted to deliver appliances to a rural address; however, it was the wrong address. He proceeded to park his delivery truck on the side of the road to call the owner of the appliances (suspect). A short time later, the suspect showed up to where the victim was parked and demanded he deliver the appliances to an alternate address. The victim said he could not.
The suspect then opened the victim’s door and proceeded to punch him 2-3 times. He returned to his vehicle, grabbed a long gun, and presented it to the victim, threatening to kill him if the appliances weren't delivered. The victim fled the area in his vehicle.
RCMP was notified and a search warrant for the residence of the suspect was obtained. The warrant was executed with the assistance of the Southern Alberta Emergency Response Team. The suspect was located and arrested and RCMP seized 16 firearms, one of which was loaded, and a large amount of ammunition.
William Fenech (31), a resident of Sundre, has been charged with 14 criminal code charges, some of which include:
Extortion with a firearm
Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
Assault
After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Fenech was released from custody with conditions and will appear at Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on Dec. 20, 2025.
