Airdrie RCMP charge male after assault with a weapon

A large machete, a loaded handgun and a large quantity of cannabis were seized.


On March 6, 2026, at 9:30 pm, Airdrie RCMP responded to 911 call from a female who reported that she had been assaulted by a male armed with a knife and a firearm inside her residence in a southwest Airdrie neighbourhood. The suspect fled the residence on foot and was believed to be heading toward 24 Street in Airdrie. En route to the residence, officers located a male matching the description of the suspect and initiated contact. The suspect was arrested without incident. 

 

A search of the suspect incidental to arrest resulted in officers seizing a large machete, a loaded handgun, and a large quantity of cannabis.

 

Kellen Stone (20), a resident of Edmonton, has been charged with the following offences:

 

  • Sexual Assault

  • Pointing a firearm

  • Assault with a weapon (machete)

  • 8 additional weapons charges

  • 4 charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

 

The victim was not physically injured in this incident, and the victim and suspect were known to each other.

 

Stone was remanded into custody with his next scheduled appearance before the Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie on March 26, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
