Alberta RCMP Major Crimes investigating found human remains

On Feb. 4, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m. (not 9:30 as originally posted), emergency crews responded to a grass fire, located south of Eden Valley. Once the fire was extinguished, a burned vehicle containing unidentified human remains was located. RCMP Major Crimes was called in and took carriage of the investigation.

 

The deceased was identified as a 24-year-old male resident of Calgary. His death is suspicious in nature.

 

RCMP is seeking assistance in this investigation. Officers are looking for anyone who has surveillance or dash cam video from Feb. 4, 2026, between 7 and 8:30 p.m., in Foothills County, on roads near the intersection of Highway 22 and 540. This is south of Longview, Alta., near the Bar-U Ranch historic site. RCMP is specifically looking for footage of a blue/grey 2022 Dodge Ram pickup with a tonneau cover.On Feb. 4, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Foothills Fire Department, Diamond Valley Fire Department and High River Fire Department, responded to a grass fire, located south of Eden Valley. Once the fire was extinguished, a burned vehicle containing unidentified human remains was located.

 

RCMP Major Crimes has taken carriage of the investigation.
