On July 28, 2026, at 9:24 p.m., High River RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence along 112 Street East in High River, Alta. 

Officers responded to the residence and found a female victim with gunshot wounds. EMS transported the victim to the High River General Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

High River RCMP immediately arrested a male and took him into custody. There was no further risk to public safety.

This was the second call for service at this residence that the High River RCMP responded to on the evening of July 28, 2026. The first call was received at 5:54 p.m., where the suspect called police, and made allegations involving the victim. RCMP conducted a thorough investigation, and determined the allegations were unfounded. The suspect called police a second time at 9:24 p.m., which resulted in responding officers finding the victim suffering from gunshot wounds; subsequently the suspect was arrested.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) attended and has taken carriage of the investigation.
