Killam/Forestburg RCMP respond to fatal motor vehicle collision

Local News

Hardisty, Alta. - On Feb. 9, 2026, around 4 p.m., Killam/Forestburg RCMP were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 13 at 49 Street in Hardisty. A detour was established while units responded and conducted their investigation.

Initial investigation suggests a pickup truck was turning eastbound onto Highway 13 when it was struck by a semi grain hauler traveling westbound. The single male occupant of the pickup truck, a 93-year-old Hardisty resident, needed to be extricated out of his vehicle by the local fire department. He was transported by ground ambulance to hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The 49-year-old driver of the semi was uninjured.

Alberta RCMP sends their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
