Lloydminster RCMP seek public assistance

Alberta News

A 41-year-old man is facing charges after stolen jewelry from a hotel parking lot break-in was allegedly offered for sale in Lloydminster.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police said officers were first notified on Feb. 25 at about 11 a.m. of a break and enter to a trailer parked in a hotel lot on 50th Avenue near 49th Street. Investigators determined the theft occurred between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. and involved clothing, belts, jewelry and wrestling memorabilia.

Most of the stolen property was later recovered in an alley in Lloydminster, with the exception of several pieces of jewelry.

The following day, at about 5 p.m., police responded to a report of a man attempting to sell a piece of the stolen jewelry at a local store. Officers arrested the suspect and, during a search incidental to arrest, located two additional items of jewelry that had also been reported stolen in the same incident.

Dayton Albert Littlewolfe, 41, of no fixed address, has been charged with trafficking property obtained by crime over $5,000. He was held for a judicial hearing and later released. He is scheduled to appear March 10 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster.

Police confirmed a “Hall of Fame” ring has been recovered, but multiple jewelry items remain outstanding.

The RCMP Forensic Identification Section collected impressions and blood evidence from the scene for analysis.

Investigators are asking residents and businesses to review surveillance or dash camera footage recorded within a one-block radius of 47th to 50th Streets and 50th to 51A Avenues during the early morning hours of Feb. 25. Anyone with information, or who encounters the stolen jewelry for sale online or in pawn shops, is asked to contact the Lloydminster RCMP detachment at 780-808-8400.
