McLennan RCMP seeks public assistance in fatal collision investigation

On Feb. 18, 2026 between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., a motor vehicle collision took place on Highway 49, just South of Highway 676, in the MD of Smoky River. Dashcam footage obtained during the course of the investigation revealed that a Black Ford F150 overtook a semi-truck that was hauling lumber. The manoeuvre put the vehicle on a head-on collision course with a semi hauling a tanker full of petroleum. The semi attempted to avoid the pickup, resulting in the semi rolling over in the Northbound ditch. The driver of the semi was later pronounced deceased as a result. The pickup did not remain on the scene of the accident.
The information gathered on the vehicle so far is as follows:
Newer model Ford F150;
Colour: Black;
Rims: Black;
Truck Bed: Black soft roll up cover; and
Accessories: Silver trim (grill, side vent covers and side mirrors).
McLennan RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in relation to this incident.
