Red Deer RCMP respond to stabbing, suspect arrested

On July 1, 2026, at 4:43 a.m., Red Deer RCMP responded to a 911 call for a stabbing in the Riverside Meadows area of Red Deer, Alta.

 

Police located a 42-year-old male victim with serious life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported by EMS to hospital for treatment.

 

Red Deer RCMP immediately contained the area and located the suspect. There was no further risk to public safety.

 

Further investigation by Red Deer RCMP General Investigative Section (GIS) led to the execution of a search warrant on a residence in the Riverside Meadows area of Red Deer. With the assistance of Red Deer General Duty, and Red Deer RCMP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), police have charged 18-year-old, Kayden Jarvis, a resident of Red Deer.

 

Jarvis has been charged with the following:

 

  • Aggravated assault;

  • Robbery;

  • Failing to comply with a release order .

 

Following a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) hearing, Jarvis was remanded into custody. Jarvis was schedule to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 3, 2026.
