Wood Buffalo RCMP responds to firearm-related call at local school

UPDATE: Fort McMurray, Alta. – On Feb. 11, 2026, after further investigation, Wood Buffalo RCMP obtained and executed a search warrant at a residence in Fort McMurray in relation to this incident. A replica firearm was seized.
As a result of the investigation, Anthony White (18), a resident of Fort McMurray, was arrested and charged with:
Uttering threats;
Common nuisance; and
Conveying false messaging.
White was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on Feb. 18, 2026.
On Feb. 11, 2026, around 2:42 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP received a call stating that a student had brought a firearm to school. Wood Buffalo RCMP responded immediately with assistance from Alberta RCMP Real Time Operations Center (RTOC). Alberta RCMP Air Services and Emergency Response Team were activated and on route. Upon arrival, Wood Buffalo RCMP located the suspect and no firearm was located. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. RCMP remain on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
